Many people have participated in the development of Palmweb with multiple and varied contributions that have been essential to build and enrich this palm taxonomy portal.

Particular mention goes to the authors, photographers and publishers who have kindly provided content and agreed to make it available on Palmweb. Authors are cited in the taxon pages in the manner standard in a scientific publication and photographers are credited on their images.

Open access journals and large aggregators like the Biodiversity Heritage Library have inmensely facilitated the job of gathering the relevant palm literature.

Palmweb was developed as a part of the European Distributed Institute of Taxonomy (EDIT), a project that aimed to facilitate access to taxonomic data and collaboration among taxonomists by taking advantage of Information Technology.

Palmweb now continues through the EU FP7 Palms project, the eMonocot project, and the generous support of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, the Botanischer Garten und Botanisches Museum, Berlin-Dahlem, and Aarhus University.

Many thanks from the Palmweb team!
